PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which appropriately suppresses degradation of an image quality caused by instantaneous fluctuation of a driving speed of an intermediate transfer body or a photoreceptor due to entry of a recording medium to a rotating secondary transferring section and shock upon separation. SOLUTION: By not providing a secondary transfer body motor that drives a secondary transfer body of the secondary transferring section inside the secondary transferring section, mass of the secondary transferring section which forms a nip so as to face the intermediate transfer body is reduced.
