PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an isosorbide-based polyamide which has high thermal decomposition temperature and high glass transition temperature and can be molded. SOLUTION: The isosorbide-based polyamide contains a repeating unit shown by formula (1) (wherein R<SP>1</SP>-R<SP>4</SP>are each independently a hydrogen atom or a 1-6C alkyl group; R is a 1-14C linear or branched alkylene group, a 1-14C linear or branched alkenylene group, 3-6C cycloalkylene group, or a bivalent group containing an aromatic group).
