A transport container system (100) for spectacle lenses and/or spectacle lens blanks includes a base container (1) with a first insert receptacle (7) for receiving in a positionally oriented manner a first insert (21) for receiving a spectacle lens or a spectacle lens blank and a second insert receptacle (8) for receiving in a positionally oriented manner a second insert (21) for receiving a spectacle lens or a spectacle lens blank. A method is described for transporting spectacle lenses or blanks with a transport container system. The transport container system (100) comprises a first pair of identical inserts (21) for the first and second insert receptacles (7, 8). The inserts (21) have in each case a spectacle lens receptacle (35) for receiving a spectacle lens or a spectacle lens blank in a positionally oriented manner and are insertable into the first and second insert receptacles (7, 8) in such a way that the geometrical centers of the spectacle lenses or spectacle lens blanks received as intended by the first pair of identical inserts are arranged at a first distance from one another. A second pair of identical inserts (41, 61) that differs from the first pair is provided for the first and second insert receptacles (7, 8). The inserts (41, 61) have in each case a spectacle lens receptacle (57) for receiving a spectacle lens or a spectacle lens blank in a positionally oriented manner and are insertable into the first and second insert receptacles (7, 8) in such a way that the geometrical centers of the spectacle lenses or spectacle lens blanks received as intended by the second pair of identical inserts are arranged at a first distance or second distance, differing from the first distance, from one another.
