<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an instrument and method for the treatment of spinal canal stenosis, using devices for implantation between adjacent spinous processes, generally related to the treatment of spinal conditions. <P>SOLUTION: A balloon catheter 100 has a plurality of main expandable members 20 disposed one inside another, a distal expandable member 25a, and a proximal expandable member 25b that all can be expanded from a collapsed configuration to an expanded configuration and then collapsed again to a collapsed configuration. The device can be used to determine whether a particular patient is a candidate for implantation of an interspinous process spacer to treat the symptoms of lumber spinal canal stenosis and to determine the size of such a spacer if indicated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
