PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge elbow for a vertical shaft pump, having a reduced weight while developing sufficient drag against internal pressure and discharge reaction force. SOLUTION: The discharge elbow 2 for the vertical shaft pump includes a first cylindrical part 15 extending toward a discharge port in the horizontal direction and a second cylindrical part 26 extending toward a suction port in the vertical direction, wherein a curved flow path 7 is formed inside to change the flowing direction of fluid flowing along the vertical direction into the horizontal direction, and a bearing box 9 is integrally provided on the top for bearing and supporting the main shaft of the vertical shaft pump at its upper end. On either side face located on a curved portion of the flow path 7, at least one first rib 13 is erected approximately perpendicular to a contour line formed by a lower end 9a of the bearing box 9 while protruding outward.
