The system (10) has a transmitting circuit (49) and a receiver (50) producing a wireless communication link between a controller (20) and a mobile processing and transmitting unit (16). A body function sensor arrangement (18) is carried by a person (12) i.e. fireman. The arrangement is in connection with the processing and transmitting unit and detects a monitoring parameter related to a body function of the person. The processing and transmitting unit transfers monitoring information to the controller via the circuit and the receiver on the basis of the parameter. The parameter is selected from one of respiration rate, breath depth volume, breathing gas consumption per unit of time and expired gas composition. An independent claim is also included for an industrial safety method for protection of a person in work input using an industrial safety system.
