<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seal, equalizing the resilient force in the lip split direction over the whole periphery and exhibiting the sealing ability uniformly over the whole periphery. <P>SOLUTION: In mounting a coiled spring 1 to a recessed groove 3 of a U-shaped seal with uniform spring pitch, both end parts A, B of the spring 1 are interposed in the abut state in the recessed groove 3 of the U-shaped seal 2, subsequently the central part M on the opposite side on a bearing of 180° is interposed in the recessed groove 3, and then a pair of remaining parts 10, 10 are interposed to complete mounting.
