COBALT/SILVER CORE SHELL NANOPARTICLES APPLICATION IN SOLID TUMOR TREATMENT

This invention represents an in vivo application using a mouse model system for investigation of the effect of silver nanoparticles (Ag) and silver-shell cobalt-core nanoparticles (Co/Ag) on solid tumors when exposed to monochromatic light emitting diode (LED) of wave length 460 nm and 250 mW in a whole process known as Solid tumor photo thermal therapy. Only mice that were injected with Ag or Co/Ag nanoparticles and exposed to the LED showed dramatic reduction in the tumor volume at the first six days of one month monitoring period. Our results showed complete safety of the undergone therapeutic program as indicated by normal range of body temperature and no symptoms of dehydration during light exposure.
