PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a vehicle from running in the direction reverse to the shift range direction selected due to a failure of a shift valve in an automatic twin-clutch transmission. SOLUTION: In the case of changing from a backward shift stage to a forward shift stage in the automatic twin-clutch transmission, after the engagement completion (time t4) of a clutch CL1 of the forward shift stage is determined, a hydraulic actuator PS4 of the backward shift stage is operated in the direction of releasing the engagement. Therefore, the clutch CL1 of the forward shift stage can be surely engaged to surely prevent unintended backward movement of the vehicle before the backward shift stage is again established by oil pressure for releasing the operation of the hydraulic actuator PS4 of the backward shift stage due to a failure of the shift valve SH2 for switching the oil pressure supplied to a clutch CL2 of the backward shift stage and the hydraulic actuator PS4 of the backward shift stage.
