The method involves forming a sponge material layer (12), where a sponge material is selected from cellulose type material or plant type material. An abrasive surface (20) is directly imprinted on a surface of the sponge material layer at a compressed state by printing ink with thermosetting compound based binder, where the printing ink comprises perfume, bactericidal agent or detergent. The ink comprises an abrasive filler that is selected from mineral filler, metallic filler or plastic filler. An independent claim is also included for an abrasive sponge comprising a sponge material.
