METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SPLINE TELESCOPIC SHAFT, SPLINE TELESCOPIC SHAFT, AND TELESCOPIC SHAFT FOR VEHICLE STEERING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a spline telescopic shaft capable of smoothly extending and contacting over a long period with excellent durability.

SOLUTION: The tooth thickness t2 of an insertion side end 44a of an outer spline 44 coated with a resin layer 42 of an intermediate body 43 for manufacturing an inner shaft is gradually reduced in an insertion direction Y1 "Refer to Fig.7(a)". The intermediate body 43 is floated and supported in a peripheral direction R1. According to the start of the press-fitting of the intermediate body 43 into a machining hole 46 of a surface broach 45, the outer spline 44 of the intermediate body 43 is automatically adjusted to an optimum phase in relation to an inner spline groove 54 of the machining hole 46 of the surface broach 45 "Refer to Fig.7(b)".
