ARMREST DEVICE

An armrest device which produces less striking noise when operated, has high rigidity, is lightweight, and is thin. The armrest device is provided with: a gear plate (30) which has engagement teeth (31) formed on the outer periphery thereof and which is affixed to a seat frame (11); a cover plate (40) which is attached to the armrest body (20) and sandwiches the gear plate (30) in cooperation with the armrest body (20); an engagement element (50) having formed thereon a load receiving section (52) for engaging engagement teeth (31, 51) with each other by indirectly or directly making contact with either the engagement teeth (51), which engage with the engagement teeth (31) in a disengageable manner, or one of the cover plate (40) and the armrest body (20), the engagement element (50) being disposed within the space (14) between the armrest body (20) and the cover plate (40) so as to be located on the outer peripheral side of the gear plate (30), the engagement element (50) being freely movable within the space (14) as the armrest body (20) moves in the forward and reverse directions; and an elastic member (60) which is disposed within the space (14) while being held by either the armrest body (20) and/or the cover plate (40) and which makes elastic contact under pressure with the engagement element (50).
