<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device and an image forming apparatus for collecting a developer scattered in the periphery of a developer carrier while preventing a duct from being enlarged. <P>SOLUTION: The developing device includes: a developer carrier; a casing provided with an opening for causing a part of the surface of the developer carrier to face a latent image support; and a structure to allow the outside air to flow in toward an internal space of the casing with rotation of the developer carrier through an inflow cavity formed between an edge part of the opening located on the downstream side in the rotating direction of the developer carrier and the surface of the developer carrier. The intensity of an air generated in a first area in the longitudinal direction of the developer carrier of the inflow cavity to collect a scattered developer into the casing from the inflow cavity is lower than the intensity of an air current generated in a second area. The device includes a duct provided on the upstream side or the downstream side in the rotating direction of the developer carrier and has an opening along the longitudinal direction of the developer carrier in the second area, and an air current generating means for generating a suction air current to suck gas from the opening into the duct. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
