PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem, wherein an averaged value of previous and next pixels is outputted and hence color is blurred in a boundary portion of color, in a conventional video signal processor for converting a 4:4:4 mode color difference signal to a 4:2:2 mode color difference signal, using the average value of previous and next pixels. SOLUTION: A video signal processor 110 includes a color difference selection signal generation means 102 for generating a color difference selection signal from an input synchronization signal and inverting and outputting the color difference selection signal for each horizontal synchronization period and for each vertical synchronization period; a color difference signal selection means 103 for generating a multiplexed color difference signal by performing time-division multiplex of first and second input color difference signals, based on the color difference selection signal; a color difference signal separation means 104 for generating first and second intermediate color difference signals from the multiplexed color difference signal based on the color difference selection signal; and interpolation means 105, 106 for interpolating the first intermediate color difference signal based on the color difference selection signal and generating a first output color difference signal, and interpolating the second intermediate color difference signal and generating a second output color difference signal.
