PURPOSE: A system and a method for controlling a traffic signal are provided to confirm the speed and complex of a vehicle by using the real position of the vehicle through an RTLS technology. CONSTITUTION: In a system and a method for controlling a traffic signal, a local area wireless communications tag(10) is installed in vehicles. The local area wireless communications tag stores tag information. The tag information comprises vehicle identification information. A reader(20) reads out the tag information from the local area wireless communications tag. A traffic information collection device(50) receives the vehicle identification information and the identification information of the reader. A traffic control server(60) confirms the position of the vehicles. The traffic control server controls the traffic control according to the congestion of the vehicles. |
