PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of reducing a torque required to convey a belt, improving contact stability between the belt and an oscillating transfer member, and also, suppressing fluctuation in toner-image transfer efficiency and toner-scattering. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 100 includes: a photoreceptor drum 1a that carries a toner image thereon; an intermediate transfer belt 6 that moves in contact with the photoreceptor drum 1a; and a primary transfer member 11a including an oscillation center shaft 14 arranged opposite to the photoreceptor drum 1a via the intermediate transfer belt 6, and also, including a sliding surface S that is arranged opposite to the photoreceptor drum 1a via the intermediate transfer belt 6 and slides in contact with the intermediate transfer belt 6, and configured to freely oscillate toward the downstream side in the moving direction of the intermediate transfer belt 6 in which the intermediate transfer belt 6 moves; wherein the sliding surface S is formed in a convex shape toward the intermediate transfer belt 6 with a predetermined curvature.
