<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of efficiently utilizing resources in a client server system. <P>SOLUTION: When utilizing a media server, an IP telephone terminal 1 transmits an inquiry to multiple addresses, selects an activation object from IP telephone terminals 2 with a media server function which have responded, and transmits an activation request to the activation object. Then, when function start is received from the activation object, the connection destination of a session with a communicating party is transferred from the present terminals 1, 2 to the activation object. In the meantime, the IP telephone terminal 2 with the media server function responds to the transmission origin of the inquiry, and when the activation request is received thereafter, activates the media server function. Then, the function start is transmitted to the transmission origin of the activation request, and an automatic answering message received through the transferred session is recorded thereafter.
