PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method of a toner for developing an electrostatic image, which realizes adhesion of external additives with uniform covering and high adhesion strength to a surface of toner parent particles prepared by a polymerization process such as an emulsion aggregation process for preparing toner parent particles via a step of aggregating resin particles in an aqueous medium. SOLUTION: The production method of a toner includes adhering external additives in a liquid mixture of a dispersion liquid of negative charged external additives and a dispersion liquid of toner parent particles formed in an aqueous medium, wherein the dispersion liquid of toner parent particles contains a quaternary ammonium salt compound and a water soluble organic solvent.
