PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical roller mill having improved classifying capability and increased transfer capacity with reduced power consumption. SOLUTION: The vertical roller mill includes a casing 2 constituting a classifying chamber 3, a classifier 6 that is disposed in the upper part of the classifying chamber 3 and comprises a rotary blade 8, a crushing table 4 disposed in the lower part of the classifying chamber 3, a pressure roller 5 that is pressed onto the crushing table 4 to crush coal 15, a primary-air blowout port 11 for blowing out primary air 12 via the periphery of the crushing table 4, and a fixed blade 33 disposed on the inner wall face of the casing 2 facing the classifier 6. The classifier 6 rotates the rotary blade 8 to classify powdered coal. The fixed blade 33 suppresses the swirling of the powdered coal swirling along the inner wall face to classify the same.
