PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator device having a driving device of high safety, by making both compatible in traction performance and the rope service life required when applying a resin-covered rope of covering the rope outer periphery with resin superior in high friction and abrasion resistant such as polyurethane, to a main rope of a traction elevator. SOLUTION: This elevator device includes a car, a counterweight, a wire rope for suspending-supporting the car and the counterweight, and a driving sheave wound with the wire rope, and is characterized in that the wire rope has a substantially circular cross section, and is covered in the outermost layer with an urethane resin, and the driving sheave is formed in a curved surface shape in an edge part of a cutout by arranging the undercut-shaped cutout in a bottom part of its groove.
