The system (1) has a secondary circuit (2) in which a heat generator (3) and a storage element (4) are integrated. A thermal solar collector (6) e.g. vacuum tube collector and/or panel collector, is integrated into a primary circuit (7). A heat medium transferred with an antifreeze agent e.g. glycerin, is conveyed through the primary circuit by a pump (8). The primary and secondary circuits are thermally coupled with each other by a heat exchanger (9). A connection (13) of the secondary circuit is connected with an input (15) of the heat exchanger. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an expansion module for modular expansion of a heating system (2) a method for operating a thermal system.
