The method involves synchronizing communication cycles of two subsystems (10, 20), where time duration of one of the communication cycles of one of the subsystems is equal to time duration of the other communication cycle of the other subsystem. Transmission of data is blocked between participants of the subsystems in locally transmission intervals (S5-1-S8-1, S5-2-S8-2) and overall transmission intervals of the cycles of one of the subsystems by a switching unit (2). The overall transmission intervals are laid in a synchronous part of static segments of the cycles of the subsystems. An independent claim is also included for a time-controlled communication system comprising time-controlled subsystems.
