<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of mass-producing developer carriers with less variation in triboelectrification performance suitable for negative-electrified toner. <P>SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing a developer carrier includes steps of: (1) forming a coating film of paint composition on the outer periphery of an aluminum cylindrical substrate; and (2) heating the coating film so that the highest reaching temperature of the coating film becomes within a range of 160 to 220°C to cure the coating film, then, forming a resin layer having a thickness of from 5μm to 30μm. The paint composition contains a phenolic resin having: any of -NH<SB>2</SB>group, =NH group, and -NH-coupling; an alcoholic solvent; a quaternary phosphonium salt compound soluble in the alcoholic solvent; and conductive particles. In the temperature profile of the coating film in the step (2), a total heating time Q is adjusted so thatαdefined by a formula (1) is within a range of 7.8×10<SP>3</SP>to 4.8×10<SP>4</SP>, when the temperature of the coating film after q seconds from the start of heating is defined as T(q)°C. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
