PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism for efficiently melting snow, regarding a snow melting mechanism which efficiently melts snow accumulated on the ground surface. SOLUTION: A perforated covering plate having downward bent parts at both edges, and a heat radiator 4 with a liquid passing pipe arranged in proximity to the inner surface of the covering plate, are located at the center upper part of a gravel layer 5 provided in a predetermined underground area so that the upper face of the covering plate is near the ground surface.
