PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cigar lighter for an automobile in which a temperature fuse does not need to be provided, a bimetal is not engaged with a lighter plug after heating to not less than a certain level, and excellent safety is achieved. SOLUTION: The cigar lighter for the automobile includes: a lighter plug 200 in which an operation knob 202 is provided at one end of a lighter body 201 having a tubular slide ring 205 and a heating body 207 being a heating body part is provided at the other end; and a lighter reception part 100 which is provided with a holder part 101 for holding the inserted lighter plug 200 so as to slide together with the slide ring 205, and a bimetal 110 for holding and releasing the lighter plug 200 when the temperature of the heating body 207 changes according to a supply state of a current from a contact terminal 117 for supplying the current to the heating body 207. The bimetal 110 includes: an engagement part 114 for holding the lighter plug 200; and a contact part 112 which can abut/separate with/from the contact terminal 117 according to the temperature of the heating body 207.
