<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator for a battery excellent in heat resistance, and a lithium ion secondary battery excellent in load characteristics and cycle characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: In the separator provided with a porous layer (II) mainly containing a filler with a heat-resistant temperature of 150°C or higher on at least either face of a porous layer (I) made of microporous films with thermoplastic resin as a main ingredient, the filler contained in the porous layer (II) is structured of an acid-resistant filler A, and a filler B made of a carbonaceous material.
