PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve structure for a shock absorber, enabling separate setting of damping force characteristics on both elongating pressure sides, while permanently developing the damping force characteristics as designed and reducing the cost. SOLUTION: The valve structure for the shock absorber includes a valve disc 1 having ports 4, 5 communicated with one chamber 41 and the other chamber 42 formed in the shock absorber and annular valve seats 6, 7 encircling the outlet ends of the ports 4, 5, respectively, and annular leaf valves 2, 3 stacked on the valve disc 1 for opening/closing the ports 4, 5, respectively. With check valves 8, 9 where inner rings 82, 92 having outer diameters smaller than the inner diameters of the valve seats and outer rings 83, 93 to be seated on/off the valve seats 6, 7 are formed by C-type annular cutouts 81, 91, respectively, flow paths having orifices formed in the leaf valves are opened/closed.
