The article (10) has holding units (7) i.e. distance securing strips (4, 5), holding a back strengthening unit (6) between left and right cover strengthening units (2, 3). The back unit remains in the article in a straight or lateral direction at a position in distance to the cover strengthening units and enables sticking of the cover and back strengthening units at a book cover. The back strengthening unit is provided between the cover strengthening units at the distance to the cover strengthening units when the article is stuck on a rear side of an envelope of another book cover. An independent claim is also included for a method for strengthening a book cover utilized in a book binding.
