PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a two-photon absorption material having a two-photon absorption cross section of a two-photon absorption compound increased by three times or more. SOLUTION: The two-photon absorption material is a composite of an organic compound-inorganic compound, in which an organic dye compound, being a two-photon absorption substance and having a plurality of cationic groups, is adsorbed on clay. The two-photon absorption material contains the combination of the organic dye compound and the clay in which a distance between cations falls within the range of an integral multiple of a distance between anions of the clay, being the reference±18%.
