PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital broadcasting receiving device and method, capable of viewing the same broadcast program continuously, even if reception of real time broadcasting becomes unavailable during time-shift playback. SOLUTION: The digital broadcasting receiving device has a time-shift playback function for reading out and reproducing received digital broadcast signals after predetermined time from the recording time while recording them in a memory. In the digital broadcasting receiver, when time-shift playback is requested, digital broadcast signals from a selected broadcasting station are read out after the predetermined time from the recording time while being recorded in a first recording unit to execute the time-shift playback. When a reception state gets worse during the time-shift playback, read-out from the first recording unit is continued to execute the playback while recording the digital broadcast signals received from an alternative broadcasting station in a second recording unit. After all the digital broadcast signals recorded in the first recording unit are read out, the digital broadcast signals are read out from the head of the second recording unit while continuously recording the digital broadcast signals from the alternative broadcasting station in the second recording unit to continue the time-shift playback.
