PURPOSE: A positive electrode active material is provided to obtain a lithium secondary battery with excellent output characteristics by improving electron conductivity. CONSTITUTION: A positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery comprises: particles made of lithium metal composite oxides with a low electron conductivity of 10^(-5) S/Cm or less; and a glassy carbon coating layer formed on the surface of the lithium metal composite oxides. The material for forming the glassy carbon coating layer includes one or a composite thereof selected from an epoxy resin, polyester resin, polyamide resin, polyurethane resin, and furan resin.
