A method for management of animals which are allowed to move in a specified area, the area comprising several grazing paddocks 12a, 12b, 12c, 12d, 12e, 12f where the animals can graze, a milking area 13 where the animals can be milked, and a number of automatic gates 17 that during certain time periods allow the animals to move between the paddocks 12a, 12b, 12c, 12d, 12e, 12f only if the new paddock is smaller or closer to the milking area 13.
