PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal material which is superior in both corrosion resistance and strength against physical impact, and is useful for manufacturing a highly-antibacterial metallic article. SOLUTION: The antibacterial amorphous alloy 10 has particles 2 formed from at least one metal selected from Ag and Cu dispersed in an amorphous alloy 1 having a supercooled liquid region at 20°C or higher, wherein at least one part of the particles 2 is exposed to a face of the amorphous alloy 1. The method for manufacturing the antibacterial amorphous alloy includes the steps of: producing a mother alloy; dispersing the metal particles formed from at least one metal selected from Ag and Cu in the mother alloy with an arc melting technique; heating the resultant mother alloy; filling a mold with the mother alloy; and cooling the mother alloy.
