PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device which is configured to give the atmospheric temperature dependency thereof to the output value of a non-contact type temperature sensor, and consequently which has improved margin with respect to poor fixation, even in a state where the fixing device is warmed or cooled. SOLUTION: The fixing device is configured to control the surface temperature of a fixing member to be equal to or higher than the melting/softening temperature of toner based on the output value of the non-contact type temperature sensor functioning as a measurement object temperature sensor and also as an atmospheric temperature sensor, and also, configured to fix an unfixed toner onto a recording medium by the heat from the heating member and the pressure applied at a fixation nip part. An environmental temperature sensor for measuring the environmental temperature of the image forming apparatus is provided. When Ta≈Td is established, wherein a detection value of the environmental temperature sensor is denoted as Td, a detection value of the atmospheric temperature sensor is denoted as Ta, the output value of the non-contact type temperature sensor is denoted as Tm, and the control temperature of the fixing member is denoted as Tc, the temperature control of the fixing member is performed so as to determine that the output value Tm is lower by a predetermined temperature than the surface temperature Tc.
