PURPOSE: A composition containing Ecklonia cava extract or fraction of the extract for preventing or treating rotaviral infection is provided to suppress cell denaturation. The extract is prepared using water, alcohol of C1-C4, or mixture solvent thereof. The fraction is a hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction, or water fraction. The rotavirus is human, porcine, bovine, or goat rotavirus. The composition is a pharmaceutical or food composition. The pharmaceutical composition is manufactured in the form of tablet, pill, powder, granule, capsule, suspension, emulsion, syrup, sterilized solution, non-aqueous solvent, emulsion, or suspension.
