PURPOSE: A surface temperature detecting apparatus of an infrared ray temperature measuring device and a method for thereof are provided to precisely receive minute infrared ray at some distance away by using a thermopile sensor module of an infrared heat detection sensor of high-sensitivity. CONSTITUTION: A sensor detects the ambient temperature(Ta) within the infrared ray guide. A surface temperature sensor(39) detects the surface temperature(Ts) of forehead of man based on the temperature(Tt) detected by a thermopile sensor(31), the temperature(Ti) detected by an internal sensor(32), and the ambient temperature. The surface temperature is detected by the Ts=(Tt4-Ti4)×(A×Ta+B)+C. The A, B, and C are in advance instituted as the constant value.
