In a thread guide reciprocating mechanism a drum has intersecting helical ribs of opposite hand and a cursor carrying the thread guide is arranged to bestride the rib. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the rib 3 is formed between two grooves 2 cut in the surface of the drum 1, there being interruptions in the ribs adjacent their points of intersection to allow passage of the thread guide cursor (see Fig. 5, not shown). At either end of the drum the ribs are suspended and shaped end pieces 7 are fitted to the drum to effect reversal of the cursor. In an alternative form, the guide ribs 3 are formed as raised portions on a plain drum. |
