A REFRIGERATOR AND A CONTROL METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: A refrigerator and a control method thereof are provided to solve economic burden caused in regular operation of a compressor. CONSTITUTION: A rate information receiving unit is connected to a smart grid network and receives information on power rates. A section establishing unit establishes a super cooling section and a power saving section according to the received information on power rates. A super cooling control unit controls to generate super-cooled air to super cool at least one storing room during the super cooling section. A power saving control unit performs a smart power saving function by cooling the other storing room using the super-cooled air during the power saving section.
