The present invention relates to a non-aqueous electrolyte for a lithium secondary battery and a lithium secondary battery comprising the same. The non-aqueous electrolyte according to the present invention is characterized in that a difluorotoluene is included therein and the difluorotoluene has the lowest oxidative potential among the components forming the non-aqueous electrolyte. The lithium secondary battery having the non-aqueous electrolyte maintains satisfactory levels in fundamental performances such as a high efficient charging/discharging characteristic, a lifetime characteristic, and the like and remarkably improves a swelling effect due to the decomposition of the electrolyte in a state of high voltage such as an overcharging state.
