PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic device for a molding machine, wherein the abnormalities of a hydraulic circuit can be detected with a reduced load. SOLUTION: The hydraulic device 14 for a die casting machine 1 includes: a hydraulic cylinder 13 to which hydraulic fluid is supplied from an electromagnetic flow rate regulating valve 22 via a hydraulic circuit 16; a pressure sensor 26 detecting the pressure of the hydraulic circuit 16; and a controller 17 controlling the electromagnetic flow rate regulating valve 22 in such a manner that the hydraulic cylinder 13 is driven by allowing hydraulic fluid in a prescribed supply amount for drive (F<SB>1</SB>) to flow out from the electromagnetic flow rate regulating valve 22 in a molding cycle. The controller 17 controls the electromagnetic flow rate regulating valve 22 in such a manner that hydraulic fluid in a prescribed supply amount for diagnosis Ft which is larger than the rating external leakage amount F<SB>0</SB>of the hydraulic fluid in the hydraulic circuit 16 and smaller than the driving feed (F<SB>1</SB>), and performs the treatment of informing that abnormalities are generated when the pressure detected by the pressure sensor 26 at that time is less than a prescribed standard pressure P<SB>0</SB>.
