PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical coupling device for coupling each optical waveguide such as an optical waveguide or an optical fiber with high reliability. SOLUTION: In this optical coupling device, a first substrate and a second substrate are bonded by an adhesive at the facing ends of each substrate, and at a first fixture and a second fixture provided on the upper surface of each substrate, and thereby each optical waveguide provided on each substrate is optically coupled. The thickness of the first substrate is formed thinner than the second substrate, and the first and second substrates are bonded by the adhesive substantially only at the facing ends of each substrate and at the facing surfaces of the first and second fixtures.
