PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flush toilet bowl and an overflow preventing method in the flush toilet bowl, improved in the overflow preventing performance. SOLUTION: The flush toilet bowl 4 includes a bowl part 22 into which washing water is supplied through a washing water flow channel 8, and a trap pipeline 23 provided between the bowl part 22 and a drain pipe 25 and draining the washing water supplied to the bowl part 22 into the drain pipe 25. The flush toilet bowl further includes a relief flow channel 30 with its one end opening 31a positioned near the upper end inside the bowl part 22 and with the other end opening 31b connected to the drain channel 33 communicating with the other drain pipe. Furthermore, the relief flow channel 30 is provided to be substantially horizontal in the axial direction, and a water level detecting sensor 36 for detecting a rise in the level of the washing water supplied to the bowl part 22 is provided inside the relief flow channel 30.
