The component (14) such as a vessel, a screen and/or a mirror comprises a metal substrate (16), and an emission-protective layer (18) for reducing an emissivity of the component, where the emission-protective layer has a gold layer and an electrically conductive ceramic layer (20) between the gold layer and the metal substrate. The metal substrate contains copper, where the ceramic layer is directly applied onto the copper. The gold layer is directly applied onto the ceramic layer. The gold layer has a base-gold layer applied by physical gas-phase deposition, and an end-gold layer. The component (14) such as a vessel, a screen and/or a mirror comprises a metal substrate (16), and an emission-protective layer (18) for reducing an emissivity of the component, where the emission-protective layer has a gold layer and an electrically conductive ceramic layer (20) between the gold layer and the metal substrate. The metal substrate contains copper, where the ceramic layer is directly applied onto the copper. The gold layer is directly applied onto the ceramic layer. The gold layer has a base-gold layer applied by physical gas-phase deposition, and an end-gold layer galvanically deposited on the base-gold layer. The component is a high-temperature component used at a temperature of 573 K. An independent claim is included for a method for producing a component.
