The method of detecting detonation for the internal combustion engine comprises steps on which: the waveform of the internal combustion engine is recorded, waveforms are extracted in predetermined frequency bands, weight coefficients for intensities of the extracted waveforms of multiple bands are changed such that the effect of noise different from detonation is reduced, the waveform of the predetermined interval of the crankshaft range is recorded and it is determined whether detonation has occurred in the internal combustion engine using the recorded waveform.
