The substructure (1) has a waterproof support plate (2) with rafters (21), and a set of counter-battens (3) fastened on the support plate. One of the counter-battens is held by a retaining element (5.0), which is fastened on the support plate in a waterproof manner and provided between the support plate and the counter-battens. A seal (23) is attached between the retaining element and the support plate, and comprises a seal element (71) that limits a contact area between the retaining element and the plate. The retaining element is made of plastic, fiber-reinforced plastic and/or metal. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a roof substructure.
