PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method capable of preventing a fall accident when a suspending cargo is inclined using the so-called double hook type overhead travel crane device. SOLUTION: This invention is a method for controlling a crane device 100 which includes a crane body 1, a pair of carriages 2A and 2B placed on the crane body and a pair of hooks 3A and 3B respectively installed in the respective carriages, and which can switch a first state capable of lifting the respective hooks by interlocking with each other and a second state capable of independently lifting the respective hooks. This invention includes a step of detecting the distance between the pair of hooks and a height of the respective hooks, a step of calculating the inclination of the suspending cargo suspended and held by the pair of hooks based on the detected distance between the pair of hooks and the height of the respective hooks, and a step of forcibly stopping the lifting operation of the respective hooks when the calculated inclination of the suspending cargo reaches a preset stable limit angle of the suspending cargo.
