PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of detecting an attitude of the apparatus in a state where no interference occurs between apparatus components, thereby preventing an error in the attitude detection. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes a shift lens 403, a shift lens drive controller 404 controlling drive of the shift lens 403, and an interference prevention controller 420 preventing interference between the shift lens 403 and other members. The shift lens drive controller 404 detects a shake applied to the imaging apparatus, calculates a movement target position of the shift lens 403 on the basis of detection output, detects an actual position of the shift lens 403, and performs feedback control such that the actual position of the shift lens 403 is converged to the movement target position, and then drives the shift lens 403 on the basis of a feedback control signal.
