<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image printing system that performs recording control for each unit pixel without changing the positional relation between dot arrangement pattern and mask pattern even when indexing and masking are each processed independently, and to provide an image processing method. <P>SOLUTION: When an index start position command (901) is transmitted and the masking is processed, the mask pattern is arranged so that a head of the mask pattern is matched with a head raster of an received index processing start position.
