PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for regulating a casting slab weight which suppresses a variation in the weight of a cut casting slab. SOLUTION: A crater end position highly correlates with an average temperature of a cross section at cutting position of a casting strand 6, and the average temperature of a cross section at a cutting position of a casting strand 6 highly correlates with an individual weight of the casting strand. Accordingly, a variation in the weight of the cut casting slab 12 relative to the target weight can be suppressed by detecting or estimating a crater end position of a casting strand 6 before cutting with a transmitting transverse wave electromagnetic ultrasonic sensor 10 and a receiving transverse wave electromagnetic ultrasonic sensor 11, correcting a cutting length for achieving a target weight of a casting slab 12 to be cut from a relationship between the detected or estimated crater end position and a predetermined individual weight of the casting strand, and cutting the casting slab 12 by the corrected cutting length.
