PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens having high optical performance in the entire zoom area. SOLUTION: The zoom lens includes sequentially from an object side to an image side: a first lens group having negative refractive power; a second lens group having positive refractive power; a third lens group having negative refractive power; and a fourth lens group having positive refractive power and changes the intervals between the respective lens groups in zooming. In the zoom lens, the focal length fW of the entire system at a wide-angle end, the focal length f3 of the third lens group, and the movement amount m2 of the second lens group accompanying zooming from the wide-angle end to a telephoto end are properly set.
